University Centre Quayside has been rated ‘good’ by Ofsted at their first full inspection which took place between 7-10 December 2021.

In its 2022 report, Ofsted rated UCQ as “Good” on all six measures: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, adult learning programmes, and apprenticeships.

The report found that “staff and leaders support learners and apprentices to develop significant new knowledge, skills and behaviours that stand them in good stead for their next steps.” They also stated that “learners and apprentices benefit from UCQ’s strong relationships with regional and national employers.”

UCQ was described as “welcoming, safe and inclusive” according to the inspectors. With them going on to say that learners from varying backgrounds are “treated with the utmost respect by staff and greatly improve their confidence and self-belief as a result.”

Inspectors noted that learners appreciate the care demonstrated by UCQ’s staff, who, for instance, during the pandemic, provided computers to learners who did not have one.

Michelle Elliott, Vice Principal at UCQ said;

“This is a huge achievement for UCQ. It wasn’t possible without the hard work, dedication and commitment of everyone at UCQ.  All staff should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved, and we look forward to working towards the next steps of our journey.”
