Prevention and Control of Infection

Course Overview

By completing this course you will be equipped with greater knowledge and understanding of how to prevent and control the spread of infection, both in the workplace and in the home.  You will also gain knowledge of how to identify infections, including the different types of infection.

The course is particularly suitable for any individual who wants to understand how to effectively prevent and control the spread of infection, supporting the prevention of Covid and other infections in the workplace.  Individuals working in public sector, education, healthcare settings, individual’s homes, hospitality, retail and any form of support work, can benefit from completing this course.

During the course you will cover the following units:

Unit 1: Causes and spread of infection

Unit 2: The principles of infection prevention and control

Unit 3: Cleaning, decontamination and waste management

    In addition to the skills you will develop throughout your distance learning programme you will also develop a range of transferable skills including communication skills, time management and digital skills.

    Course Information

    Title: Prevention and Control of Infection


       Duration: Up to 10 weeks, however, flexible to meet individual need.  


       Upon successful completion of a programme, students will achieve the TQUK Level 2 award.


      Transferable skills developed will include:

       Start date are flexible; students can enrol throughout the year and study at a time and place to suit their circumstances.
