Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes

Course Overview

This qualification will provide you with an understanding of the different types of diabetes and how they can occur as well as increasing your knowledge on diabetes diagnosis and initial care. You will develop an awareness of how Type 2 diabetes can be delayed with lifestyle changes and will learn about on-going care and treatment of diabetes to control blood sugar levels.

You will complete the following units:

Unit 1: Understand diabetes

Unit 2: Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes

Unit 3: Understand the initial care of diabetes

Unit 4: Understand treatment and management of diabetes

This course can help individuals who work in healthcare, who have diabetes, or support individuals with diabetes. The course can also benefit the work place to support these individuals.

In addition to the skills you will develop throughout your distance learning programme you will also develop a range of transferable skills including communication skills, time management and digital skills.

Course Information

Title: Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes


   Duration: Up to 10 weeks, however, flexible to meet individual need.  


   Upon successful completion of a programme, students will achieve the TQUK Level 2 qualification (601/4617/5)

   Start date are flexible; students can enrol throughout the year and study at a time and place to suit their circumstances.
