Skills Bootcamps

In today’s rapidly changing job market, staying ahead of the curve is essential. Whether you’re looking to switch careers, upskill in your current role, or explore new industry opportunities, finding the right training can make all the difference. Enter Skills Bootcamps—intensive, sector-specific courses designed to equip you with the skills you need to succeed, all in a matter of weeks.

What Are Skills Bootcamps?

Skills Bootcamps are flexible training programs that span from 2 to 16 weeks. They are crafted to help individuals build industry-specific skills and provide a fast track to a guaranteed interview with a local employer.

These bootcamps are a collaborative effort, delivered through partnerships between employers, further education providers, and local governments, ensuring that the training is relevant, practical, and aligned with the needs of the job market.

The primary goal of Skills Bootcamps is to support individuals in transitioning into specialised sectors, securing employment, or advancing in their current careers. Whether you’re employed, unemployed, or self-employed, these bootcamps offer a unique opportunity to gain new skills that can lead to better job prospects, added responsibilities, or even a new career path.

Skills Bootcamps are not just theoretical; they are designed in partnership with local employers to ensure that the training is practical and meets real-world needs. Employers such as Formula Plastics, Marmax Products, Key Enterprises, Jackson Hogg, and AR Power have already committed to supporting the program, offering participants invaluable connections and insights into their respective industries.

Guaranteed Interviews, Career Development & Certification

Upon completion, participants can expect a range of benefits, including:

  • Guaranteed Interviews: For those who are unemployed, the bootcamp offers a direct pathway to job interviews.
  • Career Development: Gain the skills needed to transition into a new sector or take on additional responsibilities in your current role.
  • Certification: All programs start at Level 3, with both accredited and non-accredited options available.

Beyond these tangible outcomes, Skills Bootcamps offer personal and professional growth. Participants will expand their knowledge, skills, and behaviours in specialised sectors, connect with like-minded individuals, and engage directly with potential employers.

Course Content and Structure

The bootcamps are a mix of lectures, observations, discussions, and support sessions, designed around employer needs. They can run in an intensive two-week block or be spread out over one day a week for up to 16 weeks, with a minimum of 60 guided learning hours (100 for digital courses).

Skills Bootcamps offer a range of courses across different sectors, each designed to provide specific skills and knowledge, including:

Advanced Manufacturing:

  • Clean and Lean
  • Improve and Sustain
  • Train the Trainer – Clean and Lean

Digital Skills:

  • AI and Digital Skills for Industry
  • AI and Digital Skills for Educators

Green Power:

  • Improving Performance in Green Power Operations
  • Driving Team Performance in Green Power Operations

Green Transport:

  • Driving Team Performance in Green Transport Operations
  • Leadership and Management

Funding and Costs

One of the significant advantages of Skills Bootcamps is the funding model. For learners not taking the course through an employer or for those who are self-employed, the courses are fully funded. If the bootcamp is pursued through an employer to upskill their existing workforce, there is a small contribution required—10% of the course cost for SMEs and 30% for larger employers. This makes the program highly accessible and affordable for individuals and businesses alike.
