We are immensely proud to have received a Continuing Excellence Award for Better Health at Work, building on the Silver award earned in 2023 and our subsequent Gold Award achievement.
The Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of employers in addressing health issues within the workplace. Many organisations already promote healthy lifestyles and consider the health of their employees. This award not only acknowledges the achievements of such organisations but also helps them move forward in a structured and supported way, ensuring a comprehensive and holistic approach to health and wellbeing.
Better Health at Work defines Continuing Excellence as recognising the importance of organisations sustaining the progress they have made during their participation in the award and encouraging them to use their experience to support others. At UCQ, this recognition reflects our commitment to maintaining and enhancing the culture of health and wellbeing that we have worked so hard to establish.
The journey toward achieving the Continuing Excellence Award was a collaborative effort. The assessment process involved interviews with UCQ’s Lead Health Advocates, alongside a detailed portfolio of evidence demonstrating how UCQ met the requirements of the award.
Commenting on the award, Kelly Pattison, Head of Data & Quality of UCQ and one of our Health Advocates, said: “We are really proud to have been awarded Continuing Excellence for Better Health at Work. This year, we have focused on sustaining the progress we’ve made and sharing our experiences to support other organisations. The mental and physical wellbeing of our team remains a top priority, and we aim to continue being recognised as an excellent place to work.”
Special thanks go to the UCQ health and wellbeing team, particularly Kelly Pattison and Ben Devine, for their hard work and commitment. Their efforts have been instrumental in ensuring that health and wellbeing remain a core priority at UCQ.
The Better Health at Work Award scheme is free, flexible, and open to all employers in the North East and Cumbria, regardless of size, location, or type of business. For more information, visit https://www.betterhealthatworkaward.org.uk.
