We are immensely proud to have received a Gold Award for Better Health at Work, building on the Silver award earned in 2023.

The Better Health at Work Award recognises the efforts of employers in the North East and Cumbria in addressing health issues within the workplace. Awards recognise the achievements of these organisations and help them to move forward in a structured and supported way, ensuring that we take a holistic and comprehensive approach to all matters of health and wellbeing. The assessment involved interviews with UCQ’s Lead Health Advocates, alongside a portfolio that provides evidence for how UCQ have met the requirements of the Gold Award.

The assessment team agreed that University Centre Quayside (UCQ) has a “robust health and wellbeing strategy, policies and procedures and action plan embedded into the culture”. With a “strong/experienced health and wellbeing team”, UCQ implements a “good range of campaigns including in-work health checks”.

Commenting on the award, Kelly Pattison, Head of Data & Quality of UCQ and one of our Health Advocates, said “We are really proud to have been awarded Gold Better Health at Work, as we have focused this year on continuing to improve our efforts to promote a culture of health and wellbeing for our team. The mental and physical wellbeing of our team is really important to us and one of our goals is to be recognised as an excellent place to work”.

The award scheme is free, flexible and open to all employers in the North East and Cumbria, regardless of size, location or type of business.
