Building on the success of our inaugural annual learning fair, we recently hosted our Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) students for the second learning fair on Thursday 18th April 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Leeds.

This year’s theme was “Charting Challenging and Choppy Waters – Navigating Your Apprenticeship in a VUCA World.” The agenda was designed to empower attendees with insights from inspiring guest speakers, dynamic group sessions, valuable networking opportunities, and enlightening seminars.

Our distinguished guest speakers included Victoria Humphries and Sarah Ashworth.

Victoria Humphries of Berrymead Consulting has spent 25 years in the education sector as a teacher, governor, Managing Director, consultant, and trainer. She now collaborates with businesses across various sectors, delivering keynote speeches and resilience workshops. She encourages participants to leverage their life experiences to build their ‘resilience toolbox.’

Sarah Ashworth from The Charlie Waller Trust holds professional qualifications in various mental health disciplines and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She delivered a talk titled “Mental Health and Wellbeing: Developing and Implementing a Strategy.”

Feedback from our students on the guest speakers was overwhelmingly positive:

“The guest speakers were brilliant – really inspiring and offered a different perspective to mental health and resilience. Felt these speakers were really relevant to our jobs as managers.”

“The guest speakers were very motivational and interesting and the workshop I attended with Sarah was very motivational and hit home”

After lunch and networking, students chose from four incredible seminars, each designed to enhance their personal growth and learning journey.

Additional feedback from the seminars included:

“The topics were relevant to some of today’s business challenges and Andy and Lesley presented them in an engaging fashion, which was enjoyable and informative.”

“The guest speakers were brilliant. Lesley Hunter’s workshop on promoting yourself in the workspace was among the best classes I have ever attended. I left there with a lot to reflect on, trying to understand myself and what I want to achieve in the workspace. It was excellent.’

We’re already looking forward to 2025!
