Essential Skills for Transport, Logistics and Storage

As you must undertake 35 hours of periodic training every five years to keep your Driver CPC, this programme has been carefully designed with employers to provide you with the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours required for working within driving and logistics.

During this course you will develop knowledge and skills including:

  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements ensuring the safe working of yourself and others
  • Understanding the use and importance of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Effectively receiving and checking incoming goods or materials
  • Ensuring effective safety precautions with transferring, lifting and moving materials, with and without equipment
  • Effectively and safely transferring materials
  • Preparing, maintaining and organising work area
  • Ensuring safe working practices during operations
  • Following quality and inspection procedures
  • Preparation for Drivers CPC

In addition to the above, you will also undertake the 5 modules of the Drivers CPC.  Successful achievement will enable you to get your Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card – sometimes called a driver qualification card or DQC.  You must carry this card while driving a lorry, bus or coach professionally.

      Upon successful completion and achievement of the programme students will achieve a range of certification including EAL Level 2 qualifications covering:

    • Receiving and Checking Incoming Materials
    • Transferring Materials
    • Concluding Operations
    • Following quality and inspection procedures

    In addition to:

    • Drivers CPC (5 modules)

      Programmes are available throughout the year and enrolment is flexible.  Self-directed study can be undertaken to suit your circumstances.


      Each student will receive a dedicated tutor who will provide in-centre classes, support with self-directed study and assessment preparation and support.


      Study Format: In-centre sessions; online/remote support; study guides and assessment packs and into work support.
