Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care

Course Overview

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of dignity and safeguarding in adult health and social care.  You will explore key principles such as safeguarding practices, duty of care, dilemmas and public concerns, and the importance of respecting individual dignity in care settings.  The course is designed to support learners in developing the knowledge and skills necessary for progression into further training or employment in health and social care roles.

You will complete the following units:

Unit 1: Principles of dignity in adult health and social care – Understand how dignity impacts care delivery and how to uphold it in professional practice.

Unit 2: Understand dilemmas and public concerns in adult health and social care – Explore ethical challenges and societal issues affecting care provision.

Unit 3: Understand duty of care in adult health and social care – Learn about legal and professional responsibilities in safeguarding and supporting individuals.

Unit 4: Understand safeguarding in adult health and social care – Gain essential knowledge of safeguarding principles and procedures to protect vulnerable adults.

This course is suitable for individuals working or aspiring to work in a variety of settings including healthcare, education, office environments, and community services.  It is also beneficial for members of the public who wish to enhance their understanding of safeguarding and dignity in care, and for those aiming to become safeguarding officers.

In addition to the skills you will develop throughout your distance learning programme you will also develop a range of transferable skills including communication skills, time management and digital skills.

Course Information

Title: Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care


  Duration: Up to 10 weeks, however, flexible to meet individual need.


  Upon successful completion of a programme, students will achieve the TQUK Level 2 qualification (601/4344/7)
