University Centre Quayside (UCQ) is a new breed of higher education institute being encouraged by the UK Government through the Higher Education and Research Act 2017. Amongst its many aims, the Act seeks to disrupt the historic monopoly held by the traditional universities, and provide new entrants access to the higher education market. As well as stimulating competition, the Act is aimed at driving innovation, raising quality standards and aligning higher education more closely with employers; all of which are expected to underpin a strengthening of the wider economy through productivity gains and growth in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).We are entirely focused on supporting employers to drive improvements in the performance of their organisations and businesses through work-based learning, and in particular through degree apprenticeships, specifically the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA). We combine academic rigour with real world business know-how, and the UCQ approach to helping improve business results is centred around developing the leadership and management capabilities of both current and future managers.

UCQ provides degree apprenticeships throughout England, and our professional learning centres are located in the six largest metropolitan areas, from Newcastle to London. We offer flexible solutions to taught sessions, and off-the-job learning, blending programme delivery at UCQ locations with client facilities and live webinars, to create programmes which truly meet the needs of our clients.

We also have the ability to bring the UCQ CMDA straight to your door. If your business has a suitable learning space, UCQ can conduct the lectures and seminars in the comfort of your offices.

The UCQ CMDA is ideal for existing managers or for employees that are stepping up or across to their first management role. The programme has been specifically developed, and is delivered, by our work-based learning specialists. They understand the realities of business from their extensive industry experience, gained working “at the coal face” of management; as a result, you can be confident that they will appreciate your needs, challenges and constraints, as well as those of your staff and will be able to deliver a programme to fully meet your organisational and staff needs.
